About Platera
Meet Eva
Author & Head Recipe DeveloperHi, I'm Eva - the recipe developer and food editor behind Platera. I grew up cooking beside my grandmother in a small Mediterranean kitchen, later trained in pastry and restaurant kitchens, and now build everyday recipes that are as reliable as they are satisfying.
Eva's full profile & recipe philosophy →Our Story
Platera began the way most good meals do - someone at the stove, tired of guessing. After years in restaurant and pastry kitchens, Eva kept meeting home cooks who'd been told that dependable food required pro gear, hard-to-find ingredients, or hours they simply didn't have. So she started testing recipes the other way around: build them for the real kitchen first, then make sure they survive it. What began as a stack of hand-scribbled note cards has grown into a library where every dish is cooked, measured, and cooked again before it ever reaches the page.
We still work that way today - small, hands-on, and stubborn about testing. Each recipe carries its own story, a plain-spoken look at the techniques that matter, practical tips, and flavor pairings that help you get it right the first time. Everything is sorted so you can move by meal type, hunt down exactly what you're craving, or just wander until something sounds worth making tonight.
Our Mission
Good cooking shouldn't feel like a test you keep failing. Our mission is to put dependable, genuinely delicious food within reach of any kitchen - no specialty gadgets, no last-minute shopping trip, no culinary degree required. We lean on honest ingredients and clear technique instead of shortcuts and gimmicks, because the point was never to impress you with a recipe. It's to hand you one you trust enough to make again and again, until it quietly becomes yours.
What You'll Find Here
Platera is organized into focused collections: soups, chili, comfort dinners, casseroles, banana bread, pumpkin treats, fruit desserts, sourdough baking, home preserving, and garden harvest cooking. Every page gives you more than a set of steps - you will find a short overview of the dish, the techniques worth knowing, serving ideas, and related recipes that scratch the same itch.
Editorial & Testing Standards
We'd rather publish fifty recipes we'd happily cook twice than five hundred we wouldn't. Every dish here is developed in a home kitchen, tested start to finish on ordinary equipment, and double-checked for accurate measurements and timing before it goes live. Our full Editorial & Recipe Testing Policy spells out exactly how a Platera recipe earns its place.
